A boutique 13m² courtyard build in Cottesloe, designed to wrap around an existing olive tree with curve detail rather than working against the planting. Fijian mahogany was the right call for the brief — earthy, coastal, intended to weather and silver naturally rather than be held to a fresh-laid look. The design called for soft curved edges through the deck rather than the rectilinear default, which takes more setting out and more careful cutting but reads correctly against the tree and the courtyard. Built quickly, no fuss, and aging exactly as the client wanted it to.
"Lach and the team did an awesome job on a pretty unique decking plan surrounding our existing olive tree. The decking looks amazing and has been holding up to weather and age well."
