Dalkeith flagship outdoor living build

A staged Dalkeith build delivered from July 2025 through February 2026 — over 80m² of merbau across a poolside deck, a 50m² alfresco, and a lined alfresco extension off the house, with a louvre pergola kit installed over the top. The poolside deck cantilevers over an existing retainer wall with stair access down to the pool, which required real engineering input and permitting handled by the owner-builder client. Multiple problems solved in sequence — clearance, drainage off the alfresco roof, integrating with paving and brickwork delivered by other trades. H4 framing throughout, marine-grade fixings around the pool, and the cantilever detail engineered to handle live load and the cyclic flex you get on a feature edge over a retainer.
